We live in India. Our India is a country of different cultures. It is a very beautiful country. It is very colourful country. The Tiger is our national animal. The Lotus is our national flower. The Indian Peacock is our national bird. The Peacock represents our beautiful coloured India. It represents the grace of our country. It represents the joyfulness of our people. It represents the spirit of India.
The Peacocks are found in every part of our country. The Peacocks are very friendly to us. Everyone loves this bird. The Peacock is a blue colored bird. Its feathers are blue, green, and golden. It looks lovely when it dances in the rain. It does not fly very high. It has a long tail. In the night, the Peacocks rest on the tree for protecting themselves. The life of a peacock is generally up to 10 to 25 years.
It is said that when Chandragupta Maurya, the famous king, was a child, he tamed the peacocks. Lord Krishna wears a feather of peacock in his crown always. The feathers of the peacock are supposed to be very sacred. The students keep the feathers in their books. The Peacock is the vehicle of lord Kartikeya, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is also the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati.
