Gratefulness: Key to Happy and Fulfilling Life

Pramod Mishra

We want to be the CHANGE the way we FEEL. What most people know is the emotion is created by MOTION. The way we MOVE determines the way we FEEL. What this actually mean is that one has to, one needs to channelize the motion, the motion of feelings!

Best thing to start the day is having 15 minutes for self, every morning. Actually, I am practicing it every morning since over 6 months now with my highly energetic young friends every morning at 6.30 AM. I strongly feel that one should have it, if we don’t have 15 minutes for ourselves, we actually don’t have a life at all. In a way, we are not serious about our life. All this started after I attended a seminar of Tony Robbins. I am really grateful to him.

During these 15 minutes, first 6 minutes is for lymphatic exercise (similar to bhastrika) which creates massive change in breathing pattern. This radically changes the way we feel. Then next three minutes is for GRATITUTE. During these three minutes, I focus on three things that I am really grateful for. Why it is important to be grateful for? Actually, when a person is grateful, one can’t be worried, we can’t be fearful, one can’t be angry when grateful. And the ANGER and FEAR are what disturbs people the most. It impacts, their relationship, their lives, their workplace, their studies, and so on. So, to prepare for this, one has to rewire or train himself/herself.

Most people want to be happy, but their habit is to be worried or frustrated or stressed or complaining. Thus, they create a highway to stress and they have got a dirt road to happiness. As a result, they pick up very high speed on highway of stress and very slow on happiness – Habits need to change for happiness. For this, rewiring of self is very important.  One should have a highway to gratitude which changes the emotions.

Next 3 minutes is prayer for my family, extended family and my friends, for their wellbeing. I remember them. I see them in front of me. I see them all healthy, fit and fine.

Next and last three minutes process is for top three things I want to accomplish. I see them as done, already done! I feel it happening which helps me in rewiring my subconscious mind.

In fact, gratitude keeps you grounded, it is the greatest habit we all should have. In true sense, GRATITUTE is GREAT ATTITUTE!
